Day 3 - Tuesday, April 09, 2013
Tuesday was our free day in the City. We were allowed to go sightseeing, shopping, exploring, etc. Whatever we wanted. Can you guess what I chose??
We had to catch the train into the city, which reminded me a lot of the subways in New York. It took us about 50 minutes to get into Brisbane from the train station in Morayfield. We then set a meeting time and location and were released. Most of the girls and I stuck together to go shopping. We ate lunch at this place called Grilld. It was SO good. We need to get those back in the states! I got some souvenirs, a Maxi Skirt, a pink copy of Breakfast at Tiffany's, and a 130 dollar Guess purse - Its so cute and worth every penny!!
We planned to go down to a beach on south bank (across the Brisbane River) but we didnt make it that far. I also went to an Ugg store :) THEY HAD ANIMAL PRINT UGGS!! But they were really expensive and my host family said there was another outlet type store that might be more reasonable.
After I got home from shopping, we made pizzas for dinner. They were so good!! I also went to the Host with Margarette and Kelli, two other students from the states. The theaters here are similar to ours except when you purchase your tickets, you buy specific seats. That way I could buy a ticket three days in advance and pick a good seat and show up a minute before the movie started. In Australian theaters (Cinemas) you can also bring in your own food or purchase it there, you dont have to smuggle it in like we do in the states.
