'Twas the Night before Australia

'Twas the night before Australia and all through the house no creature was stirring ... Except for me of course! Between the last minute packing and the excitement, I can't sleep!

As I began to finish my packing and try to wrap my brain around the fact that tomorrow I will actually be on my way to the land down under, I spent time thinking about what it is that I want to experience during my time there. What things am I going to learn? What experiences will I have that will forever change the course of my life?

This past week while I was at work, I was talking to a customer who had a similar experience. Although she didn't go to the same country nor did she go to student teach, she did go at a time in her life when she was starting over, as I will do shortly after my graduation and return to America. I can not wait to see how I will change and how my appreciation for diversity of culture and life it self will develop.

I HATE Packing!

Packing, for a weekend, is such a daunting task let alone 5 weeks in a completely different country! Below you can see my mountain of clothes that are destined for the suitcase.
I was also out running some errands and picking up things for my trip and I stumbled across this Australian Gold sunscreen ... I bought some because I felt that it was meant to be! I also bought some sunscreen with some real SPF in it too - to appease my worried mother.
I am getting more and more excited as the days get closer! Only 10 left!!! Almost to single digits! My to-do list is also growing by the minute!! So that is all for now!

Preparations for Australia

March 13, 2013

Today, I received my home stay and teaching placements for my student teaching experience in Australia. I was able to contact both my mentor teacher and my host family so that I can begin to get to know them. I am super excited about my upcoming experience. I can't wait to continue to build on and further my teaching strategies and experiences as well as enjoy some personal traveling and fun while I am abroad.
